Alexis Vincent Gomès, from Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo, was elected to serve a two-year term as a Director of Lions Clubs International at the Association’s 96th International Convention held in Hamburg, Germany July 5 through 9, 2013.
Past Director Gomès is a lawyer.
Member of the Pointe-Noire Eucalyptus Lions Club since 1983, he has held many offices within the Association, including secretary, president, zone and region president, district governor, council chairperson, multiple district convention chairperson, international relations chairperson, district honorary committee chairperson and GLT area leader. He is a member of the African Lions Steering Committee, and was elected to serve as Chairperson of the All Africa Conference from 2014 to the Conference in Togo (Feb. 2018). Past Director Gomès is LCI’s Board appointee (2017-2018) and LCIF’s Board trustee (2017-2018), and also a member of the 2017 Centennial Action Committee for the Africa continent.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the Friend of Humanity Award, four International President’s Medals and several International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and also a Second Century Ambassador.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Gomès is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Order of Mono (Republic of Togo), the Order of Merit (Republic of Ivory Coast), Commander of the Order of Merit (Congo-Brazzaville).
Past Director Gomès is married to Eliane. The couple has several children and several grandchildren.
